Almost every room in my house has at least one light source. But two rooms — two small, windowless bathrooms — proved difficult to remodel. My guest bathroom, for example, is very functional. But because it’s closed, I don’t want it there. If I’m a stranger again, they probably won’t be either. I think it might be part of the isolation, but I’m tired of trying to fix this problem once and for all.

It took a bit of trial and error, but thanks to some inspiration from the Clarke + Kensington 2020 color palette, I think I finally got it! One of the first things you’ll notice from the “before” pictures is how pale the bathroom is. There are many soft flowers, of course, but when there are no windows in the house, you are left to rely on the colors of the bulbs. Soft whites don’t work in this room and leave a yellow mark
. I hate that every time I pick something up (like the vanity I’m waiting to install), the lighting finds a way to destroy it.
Choosing A Paint Color For Our Small, Windowless Bathroom
I’m sure you’re thinking, “Why don’t you change the light bulb to daylight or white light? I can – I made the bad choice of choosing light fixtures that don’t use light bulbs. Finding them was tough and I decided enough was enough not only did I need new paint, but I didn’t want to spend more money on special bulbs.
A few years ago, I also installed a Bluetooth-enabled bathroom fan with LED lights. It gives the blue color that I like – not the sun, but it’s a step in the right direction

The existing walls are partially covered with gray-purple paint. It’s a really nice color…in the right room. But over time, I realized that it was completely wrong for this bathroom. The lights, stairs, and tiles don’t play well with the sound, so everything is sick. It’s amazing how much color can affect a home. I got more creative with the design after adding this paint color!
Tips For Picking A Color For A Small, Windowless Bathroom
I call it “partial coating” because I haven’t even finished the first color job. After removing and drying all the wallpaper, I had a little tinkering to do with the old light fixture. I painted most of the house and finished the patchwork but procrastinated. A word to the wise: If you cover a joint like this, be sure to cover it with paper
Image – Although the new paint has the exact same image as the Clarke + Kensington line. The main reason for this is the case
. A wall with a patch like this is stronger than a finished or pre-painted wall, so the paint will absorb and break the sheen when the light hits the wall (where it’s really dark). It can also require several coats to get even coverage, so paper tape is your best bet to avoid this and it’s cheaper than buying paint for another coat!

Looking at these colors inspired by nature, I knew it would be a good opportunity to revisit, as K put it, “an inspired bathroom to die for.” 😂

Paint Color Ideas For A Small Bathroom To Make It Feel Big
The first things these days are mixed and I have not found one that can make one hair, light or touching when there is a visible color change (like this dark mauve to light white). I love two coats and this one really needs two. But, one later is not a bad cover:
After the second coat was dry, I took a step back and carefully examined the ends. The main thing I noticed about this particular line: it has a different contrast
Another brand that I have used in my bathroom in the past is Clarke + Kensington paint products. I can’t really explain the difference, but it has…butter? Velvet?
In general, it is recommended to use satin or large sheets in the bathroom. But since I worked so hard to dry the old one, I didn’t want to be too long that I could see every flaw in the wall (which would fail). Instead, I went with Egg. It’s smoother than satin, but still washable for this room (I explain the trade-off between sheen and other benefits in this post if you want more info!). It is a standard measure. Hopefully, you can see the amazing writing on the wall in the “behind the scenes” photos in this post!
Good Colors To Make Bathrooms Without Windows Feel Sunny — Wild Creative Project
I started by painting the whole house with white opal. I love this color! I bought a gallon with the Ace Hardware gift card they sent me, but I don’t have enough half to make two coats at home. So, I’m pretty sure I’m good enough to paint the first bathroom with it (I’ll go back and finish the last painting after using the bathroom… guess the procrastination is over, yay! ). I compared the color in a guest bathroom (no window) with natural light (primary) and it looks good in both situations. It is highly recommended, especially because it is difficult to find a good balance in the white colors of the wall (I do not like yellow “warm” white too much, which does not feel clean and like a hospital). It is a beautiful simple white that is still warm enough to bring out the cool green color on the accent wall, without taking blue, green or blue into the process.
I used leftover natural wood planks as inspiration for color choices to create a small accent wall. Even though I was worried that the room would be too small to work in an interesting style, I’m glad I went. The greens, blues and grays took me to a distant, soft, dark green with a little blue and gray.
After the opal white paint dried, I measured a section of the back wall with tape to the new paint. I don’t plan on keeping the glass (dirt gets into that little decorative part of the frame), but it has a drugstore build, so I’m still looking for a replacement. Starting with me
To keep it empty, I measured 4 inches from the top to create my paint line. There is no special trick to it. I think this distance worked.
How To Make A Small Bathroom Look Larger
Regular painter’s tape runs the risk of removing the new wall paint from the wall, especially in the first few days (until it cures).
