I love herringbone wood floors because this classic look can be made to look modern. Wood is not ideal for wet areas such as the shower, but is more suitable for shared bathrooms. Chevron floors have a luxurious look and when combined with marble you get a glamorous, sophisticated look; combined with concrete, you get a nice combination of luxury and industrial. If your floor surface doesn’t allow you to have real wood, there are some very nice tiles available.

Heavily influenced by European style and mid-century industrial design, I love terrazzo floors and walls. There are so many options in terms of color combinations, they add a very cool factor and feel great underfoot. Go bold with this look, but keep the rest of your bathroom clean and simple to let the terrazzo shine.

Concrete looks great against luxury finishes like marble – I love the contrast of two contrasting surfaces. Concretely, the gray palette can be a good base if you want to use colored faucets, as it goes well with everything, especially brass or warm metals.

Instead of choosing one floor color and texture for the entire bathroom, wood moldings in the shower are a great way to define that special area. Wood feels great underfoot, is softer than tiles and works best in combination with white and grey.

Luxury Modern Bathrooms

We’ve seen sanded wood coming out of the flooring industry, so I love the fact that there’s now a tile option as well. This tile has an interesting design, and the design of the planks can help make a small bathroom look bigger. I can imagine this with beautiful white wall tiles and matte black tap fittings to make a real statement.

The natural stone look of this porcelain tile is stunning. The patterns are varied enough to give a natural look, and the dark charcoal color highlights all these different patterns. This tile can create an extremely whimsical master bathroom with a masculine touch; you can place this tile on the walls once. Paired with other vintage faucet accessories, this look will create a storage space for seniors to escape to.

Many people love a bright, white bathroom. I usually discourage clients from white floor tiles because they show a lot of dirt and loose hair, but I think this terrazzo tile (above) would be the perfect solution. The subtle texture of the stone that runs through is unsurprising, perfect for people who don’t like patterns and can help hide dirt. And it doesn’t hurt that terrazzo is all the rage right now!

Exposed concrete is very bright and has a nice neutral tone that goes with everything. If you’re looking to create a feature wall with tiles, I recommend going with something simpler, such as Kierrastone gray tiles from Tile Max, to keep the space from looking too busy. Although at 450mm square it’s smaller than I’d normally recommend, it would be a good choice for a small bathroom, the matte finish doesn’t slip, and the geometric shelves in vibrant colors and black mirrored surfaces feature in our latest lookbook. which collects 10 baths. from the archive specified by the tiles.
