Bathroom Decor Home Goods – They all have a sales chain that gets them every time. You go in with the intention of buying something, but somehow you end up leaving a car full of stuff. HomeGoods is that store for me.
So when HomeGoods offered me a value shopping trip, I couldn’t say yes fast enough. Additionally, they gave me access to Beth’s interior designer, Diana Smith, who shared my aesthetic and made suggestions to improve my shopping experience. I was looking for some decorative pieces to add character to my space for this season, as well as some decorations to help keep it clutter-free. I made two trips to my local HomeGoods and thanks to Beth’s recommendation, I’m happy to report that I found exactly what I wanted for my space. This is what I ended up buying for my bathroom and living room.
Given that I write about all things decor, it’s no surprise that I have a lot of bedding and rugs. While many may think this is a good problem to have, they can quickly take over your space if you’re not careful. Whenever I try to press them properly, they crack after a few days. I need a clever solution to keep them in shape. To keep things nice, Beth suggested I find an interesting basket to complement my current collection. I knew I needed at least one round basket to add visual interest, and since Beth says about baskets, “the more attractive, the better,” I’m using C&C California Specs for $29.99. It has enough space to store our frequently used towels.
Beth helped me think beyond the box office. “To maximize space on each shelf, look for something rectangular or square,” she said. He spoke the truth. I found some woven baskets that made it easy. One is decorated with a white knife and large woven material, and the other is a large focal point against the tree guard.
I already finished the look by filling the glass hurricane with gold plated pine cones and placed a ZZ tree on one of the top shelves for a spa vibe.

Now that we go home often, my room has become a multipurpose space. From serving as my daughter’s classroom to a great place to hang out, it has become the center of our home, perhaps even more so than the kitchen. Because of this, it makes sense that he comments more and that he feels my absence around his door. It’s not just ugly – my kids used to put their toys in there so it got ugly.
When I went to HomeGoods, I wasn’t sure exactly what furniture would be perfect for this space. However, upon entering the store, my eye fell on this sleek chair, only $150, but with the right pieces for the area. This pattern represents my love for bohemian inspired pieces and the mustard patches that make fall so beautiful. It’s the perfect piece of furniture to brighten up our beautiful living room that gets some natural light. I sent Beth a picture of the chair and she immediately approved and said she loved the legs. Score!
All I have to do is pick the right outfit to wear it with. Since Beth told me to find something that “brings a little joy,” I wanted a large white-centered painting ($16.99) to complement the mustard color of the bench. Fortunately, I saw a white dot appear on a small screen that reminded me of an umbrella. It’s an instant mood booster and the white frame adds a fresh touch to the room. I bought a long navy blue pillow ($29.99) and covered the couch that HomeGoods gave me a few months ago in black and white. Like Beth, I enjoy throw pillows and throws, so this is a fail-safe combination to give the sofa warmth and character for the winter months ahead.
Once I finished arranging the bench, it was time to fix up our growing gallery wall and replace the black table lamp that was lost in the upgrade. To update the gallery wall, I recycled pieces I already had. I took a few family photos, including one of my daughter as a baby, and finally decided to place the chalkboard in a beautiful brass vase that was already there. I asked my daughter to write the word “alive” on the chalkboard as a sweet reminder to get me through the hardest times we’re going through right now.

And when I saw the black and gold table lamp in my room for years, Beth thought it was time for some color. Thanks, I found a great desk lamp for $49.99. This farmhouse style lamp has the same mustard shade as the upholstered chair – perfect! It helped bring the room together and was the highlight of the space needed. I added a washable diamond rug ($19.99) by the door to give the room a more homely feel.
Shopping at one of my favorite stores is the therapy I need, especially after being away for so long. It’s fun to find new ways to arrange the furniture and decor I already have, and it’s fun to find a statement piece to showcase my many styles (especially at a great price).
