Small Bathroom With Freestanding Tub And Shower – Freestanding bathtubs and freestanding bathtubs have been around for centuries in different cultures. However, recently we’ve seen them make a big comeback in exciting new ways. Most of the new designs are modern, unique, and designed to fit a freestanding tub in a small bathroom.
If you like to scroll through Instagram or watch HGTV, you’ve probably seen a lot of bathroom renovations that feature a freestanding tub. There are many reasons for their popularity.
Small Bathroom With Freestanding Tub And Shower
A Statement Piece With so many designs to choose from, a freestanding tub can be a great statement piece. Many freestanding bathtubs look like a sculpture or a work of art, creating a beautiful space in your bathroom. With a built-in bathtub there aren’t many options, but with a freestanding bathtub you can choose from many different styles. Designs vary from the classic clawfoot tub to the modern solid tub.
Freestanding Tub Guide
Freestanding bathtubs usually require more space in the bathroom, but they can also make the room feel larger. This provides a lot of space under or near the bathtub, making the room feel more open and smaller.
More and more homeowners want their bathroom to feel like a spa. Soaking in a private bath sounds like a great way to relax.
With built-in bathtubs, there are few places you can add to your bathroom. But a free standing bath allows you to place it in the middle of the room, against the accent wall, or next to the window.
Some homeowners want the luxury of a freestanding tub but worry that it won’t fit in their small bathroom. The good news is that there are many options.

Freestanding tubs are usually placed on the wall, under a window, or in the middle of the room. But when the space is high, they can also be placed in the kitty-corner. For example, this solid surface bathtub is placed next to a window but placed to the side. It gives a nice flow to the layout of the room without looking like a bathtub pushed into the corner.
For a tight space, a sliding bathtub is perfect. The sliding material is designed to be high at one or both ends. The side is tilted, allowing you to sit in an inclined position. These tubs are designed to be deep, making it easy to fully immerse yourself in a short space.
Some walk-in bathtubs are designed to be compact in size but deep enough to allow for deep soaking. These freestanding bathtubs are easy to clean because they sit on the floor and you don’t have to clean under them.
In this bathroom remodel, we got rid of the built-in Jacuzzi tub, and made room for this walk-in tub.
A Simple Comparison Of Freestanding Bathtubs Vs. Built In Ones
In Japan, it is common to find a built-in bathtub instead of a shower. The bathroom trend continues in the United States. Often a glass wall will separate the shower and tub from the bathroom. This allows you to have enough space for your private shower and bathtub. And the glass wall keeps the bathroom looking open and bright. It’s also a great way to stay warm or create a sauna-like experience. When you shower or take a hot shower, the glass wall keeps the warm air in – unlike a larger bathroom which is difficult to heat. If you’re thinking about replacing your bathtub with a tub, but aren’t sure you want to get rid of the tub, this is a great option.
Popular in Japan for centuries, Japanese soaking tubs are deeper than the average bathtub. Deep soaking tubs are designed so that you sit directly in the tub with the water up to the bottom. Some deep tubs have a small built-in seat. They allow for a deeper immersion than a standard bathtub but use less water. Perfect for San Diego where water prices are high. Their size also makes it easier to get into your bathroom.

Back in the day, we had very few options when it came to bathroom designs, and we had to rely on a few design elements to create valuable space in a small bathroom.
Now the options are endless. Not only do you have wall-mounted bathtubs, free-standing bathtubs, corner bathtubs, bathtubs, but they also vary in terms of material, size and shape.
In this blog post, we look at freestanding bathtubs in small bathrooms and why we think they’re something to consider in your next renovation project.
When we think of private bathrooms, we think of a large space with high ceilings, where it takes ten steps on one side of the bathroom to reach your body lotion. In fact, it is not, and instead we are dealing with difficult areas in a small bathroom.
Shower Vs Bathtub — Beth Lindsey Interior Design
A freestanding bath can make a statement piece in your bathroom, and you can get more attention in this area with beautiful tiles or a beautiful color of tapware like Brushed Brass.
If you’re looking for the perfect shape, an oval or egg shape is a safe choice. This shape is slightly longer and narrower and can be a good choice for many areas. It will still have a nice profile with nice clean lines, even if it’s close to the wall.
Round and straight tubs require more room to move around and are less efficient than oval ones because you can’t stretch out.
Another thing to keep in mind is the tapware for the tub. If you want a wall socket and wall combination, the bathtub must be in the corridor so that the wall socket can reach the bathtub and the water can flow into the bathtub without problems.
Bathroom Design With Walk In Shower And Freestanding Bathtub
If you want to get rid of the tapestry on the floor, you can choose a quality bathtub with a long neck spout and a shower suitable for cleaning the bathtub.
Freestanding bathtubs can come in a variety of materials such as acrylic, stone, solid surface and concrete. Acrylic bathtubs come in glossy white or off-white. Therefore, you can choose the finish to match your other accessories in your bathroom.
As you can see, you don’t need to have a free-standing bathtub in a small bathroom. If the space is too small but you like the idea of a freestanding bath, you can get a smaller size such as a 1300 or 1400mm bathtub.

Bathroom Makeovers With Soaking Tubs
Today, I’m back with more bathroom fun – a peek into my mom’s bathroom, complete with a new freestanding tub! Two years ago, we refreshed this space to remove the builder’s vanity and add a feminine touch to it. That was fun for a while, but Mom really wanted to update the whole room. He is not a fan of the tile floor or shower and it bothers him every day. He finally realizes that he is living something he hates and vows to change it as soon as possible.
Before we get to the latest images, let’s take a look at the original images and the site plan.
Here’s a look at “then.” This is the area before we make our renovation to the traditional style vanity. My mom didn’t like the builder’s nonsense, especially having a double sink when she didn’t need one.
Here is the updated vanity. That’s better, but the whole room wants to change.

Isn’t it amazing? Hexagon tile floors, taupe throughout the room, and that freestanding tub…holy smokes! It’s like a hotel when you walk into this place and my mom couldn’t be happier with what happened. Let’s go deeper.
I have to say, I am very jealous of his new freestanding bathtub. I’m a big bather and would probably use it every night if it was my house!
