Apartment Patio Decorating Ideas On A Budget

Apartment Patio Decorating Ideas On A Budget – It only took 10 years to get here, but we did it my friends! I’ve been living in my high-rise apartment for a long time, and even though every corner is decorated the way I want it, my apartment yard is a lost cause. I look at it every spring as soon as the weather is nice and I always want to change it.

A few years ago there was a poor attempt that was a firm no. However, something clicked this year. As before, I took this job within days and never looked back. Decorating a backyard can be a lot of fun, but I’m putting it off!

I went on Pinterest, it seems like every spring I do yard decorating tips. Again and again I saw a great common thread, in place. I was thinking about something last year. But I set myself a very high goal. I wanted to paint the floor. Р. No.

I wanted to make a tile stencil to look like this beautiful outdoor space from interior design guru Emily Henderson. But I’m not crafty. So, unfortunately, I waited another year. Then I realized I could use these incredibly affordable and easy-to-install tiles for outdoor flooring.

It was a game changer in this space. They took no time to install as they clicked together. I love how we changed the space so quickly.

Another big change was the black unit, which I can control a bit. I thought about making a boxwood fence there (fake of course), but that seemed like a lot of work and I didn’t have any tools other than a hammer.

Instead, I painted it the same Valspar Royal Navy that is my bedroom wall. I got a flat coat exterior paint formula to resist the weather and metal elements. Although it’s a subtle color change, it was the pop of color that this space really needed. Also, black bench now counters it much better than black on black.

A small change in color and flooring completely transformed this space. I was able to keep my current furniture, which is really nice pieces, and just get rid of the rest.

From a few easy-care plants to affordable beautiful plants and funky lighting, this space was perfect under $500. Here’s the view from my new apartment balcony in spring and summer!

Such a difference before and after the difference. And yes, it’s the same table. It was completely covered in dust. If you live in Atlanta, you know exactly what I’m talking about. It covers the city for about 2 weeks every spring, and until then there is no reason to attack it. After cleaning the entire yard, including the furniture, it’s time!

Just as you would start with an inspiration board, or an idea for a room in your home, do the same for your backyard. Collect decorating ideas and even specific balcony ideas to help you create the ambiance you want.

How To Create A Cozy Outdoor Space For Your Small Balcony On Any Budget

I wanted the space to reflect my home as it is what you can clearly see in the living room and bedroom. I got navy (duh) and lots of warm neutrals like peach and teal with lots of natural textures and greens.

All outdoor areas should have some type of seating to invite guests and make them feel comfortable. Depending on the square footage of your space, this will determine what you end up with in terms of seating options.

For smaller living spaces, choose smaller chairs like a simple bistro set like this one. For larger spaces, choose a seating area that can accommodate more friends for more entertainment, which may include a coffee table. I like it because of its compact size. You can also add a small chair for extra seating if space allows. I always recommend having some small table available to crack your afternoon Aperol Spritz.

Whether you choose to plant artificial or real plants, landscaping the entire area helps define the yard and keep it cozy. This helps the small balcony feel like it is also a separate room.

By looking at each side, you will create a real oasis in nature. And if you have a good green thumb, a backyard garden is always a fun addition. I personally have basil and mint growing in my yard to add to recipes and cocktails!

There’s no need to go crazy with colors, because first, it can fade over time with the sun and weather. I always think it’s wise to choose neutral chair cushions and play with colors elsewhere. From pillow patterns and textures to lightweight pillows to keep you cozy at night.

The only thing that completely changed the place was the gray cement covering of the floor. There are many choices, but I chose outdoor tile flooring. It was easy to install and cheap considering the impact it had.

But if you want an affordable option, you can always add an outdoor rug. There are many options to choose from these days. A classic jute or sisal rug is also always a simple, durable and affordable choice.

There was no outside light on the balcony of my apartment. The sky. Not even a plug! I had to be creative here. So I ended up using an outdoor chandelier, but it’s easy to remove in inclement weather (and a covered porch is rarely that bad).

I hung them by attaching these hooks to the ceiling with gorilla glue. I just keep an extension cord in a basket by the couch to grab when I want to plug it in. It’s not that important and it was the light I really needed to use this space after sunset.

The lighting is always perfect so you can enjoy your outdoor space even in the evening. It also creates a warm and inviting ambient light to really set the mood! String lights are a very easy and affordable way to do this, costing around $30. Some are solar, battery or plug-in powered.

Most apartment yards and balconies are very small. That being said, don’t go too crazy with these small spaces. You want your yard to be an extension of your home, so keep it simple. Don’t go crazy with lots of furniture, lots of accessories and so on. After all, you want to relax there!

It’s obvious, but I tend to forget until the storm hits me. It’s good to practice lifting your pillows at night or at least know that the weather is going to be bad. I try to do this especially when I go out of town. Not only will you keep your pieces looking great, but they will last longer.

Whether you use citronella candles or sprays, remember that bugs will still welcome you to your newly decorated yard! I love using citronella tea candles. And yes, even in my tallest building twelve stories up we still have mosquitoes.

Since the pig could get itself out of the yard, I wanted to make sure I could protect it from falling twelve stories. In the previous picture, you can see the plexiglass, which was a very poor DIY. The zipper dries and the pieces come off.

I took all of this and put on this black net that was designed to protect children. It was very cheap and easy to install. Just type it in and you’re good to go!

To be completely honest, I finished decorating my balcony at the end of last summer. However, at that time sharing was no longer important, so I thought I’d save it for this year’s exhibition.

Let me start by saying that I am very grateful that my outdoor space is available in 2020. When I rented my first place in 2013, having a balcony wasn’t very high on the “must have” list. However, I moved to the balcony. So having one is on my “must do” list when I want to buy a condo myself. I moved into my apartment in November (not great patio weather). Also, I didn’t get a chance to start decorating
