Traditionally, a free-standing bathtub takes up more space in the bathroom, but the room can be larger. This frees up more space under or around the tub, making the room feel more open and less cramped.

More and more homeowners want their bathrooms to feel like a spa experience. Bathing in a freestanding bathtub is luxurious and a great way to relax.

When it comes to built in bathtubs, there are very few places where you can install them in your bathroom. But a free-standing bathtub allows you to place it in the middle of the room, against a prominent wall or next to a window.

Some homeowners want the elegance of a freestanding bathtub, but worry that it won’t fit in their small bathroom. The good news is that there are many options.

Corner Tubs For Small Bathrooms

They are usually placed against the wall, under the window or in the middle of the room. But if the area is close, they can also be placed in the corner of the cat. For example, this solid surface bathtub is next to the window, but is tucked in the corner. This gives a good flow to the shape of the room without looking like the tub has been pushed into the corner.

If space is limited, a bathtub is ideal. Shoe boxes are designed to be raised at one or both ends. The side can be tilted back so you can sit in a lying position. These boats are designed to be deeper, facilitating full immersion in a short space.

Some clawfoot tubs are made on a smaller scale, allowing for a shorter but deep soak. These freestanding bathtubs are easier to clean because they sit on the floor and you don’t have to clean the bottom.

In Japan, it is not unusual to find a bathtub installed in the shower area. The bathroom trend is also catching on in the United States. Glass walls often separate the shower and tub from the rest of the bathroom. This means you have more space for your shower and bath. And the glass walls ensure that the bathroom appears and shines. It’s also a great way to keep warm or create a sauna-like experience. When you shower or take a hot shower, the glass wall keeps the air warm inside, unlike a large bathroom, which is difficult to heat. If you are thinking of changing the bathtub to a shower but are not sure if you want to leave the bathtub, this is a good option.

Japanese bathtubs have been popular in Japan for centuries and are deeper than standard bathtubs. Deep tubs are designed so that you sit upright in the tub with water up to your chin. Some deep soaking tubs have small seats inside. They allow you to dive deeper than a standard bathtub, but use less water. Perfect for San Diego where water prices are high. Due to their size, they also fit easily in your bathroom.

When I started thinking about how to design my bathroom, I had a hard time with the idea of a small bathroom with a shower and a separate tub that fit my small bathroom and construction considerations.

I quickly realized that I was confusing my life by using so many small bathroom pictures. I can easily get caught up in liking designs or elements that don’t work with the size of my bathroom. The best way for me is to step back from the photos, define my style and find items within those parameters that fit my bathroom and life.

My compact bathroom is 2100mm x 2740mm with a ceiling height of 2570mm. It has an unobstructed western window, so the bathroom will have direct sunlight in the evening. The door is perpendicular to the window. The bathroom is in the cantilever part of the house, above the kitchen, so the walls behind the tiles are mostly brick.

This may sound strange to those who think of a small bathroom as just a functional space, but I personally associate words and phrases like “relaxation” and “space for reflection” with my bathroom. After receiving this information, I considered the best practices for plumbing, especially bathrooms. I always recommend talking to your contractor/plumber to find out what is possible.

This allows me to determine all the requirements that the design must meet and also consider planning details such as storage areas and hidden electrical outlets. Rob and I are mostly into the shower, so a luxury ride experience is on the wish list. I still enjoy the occasional shower and while I don’t plan on moving out anytime soon, the shower is a good selling point, so I wanted to set up a separate area for the shower.
