Small Bathroom Ideas That Blend Function And Enduring Style |

Whether you have a small space to work with, a dark and cramped bathroom, a unique home style, or just don’t know where to start, we’re here to help! Having problems with the front door? You know, when you have a small space and opening doors in that small area (or outside) creates awkward maneuvering problems? I love that we have a bathroom attached to our bedroom, but being there and having to open the door to the already small space has been frustrating since the first day we lived there. When we moved, my mom suggested that I solve the problem with sliding doors, but I didn’t really know what it would look like. And with all the other repairs we wanted to do, it seemed expensive

I was frustrated with the door situation until I saw the sliding bar door we installed in the studio to solve the same problem. The problem with this door was that it split outwards and stuck in the living room when open (as you can see in the before and after pictures). So embarrassing A door that slides instead of swings will make more sense and won’t take up any space in a small bathroom or kitchen. Problem solved!

When I saw that the studio problem was immediately solved with the new door setup, I knew this would be the perfect setup to solve the door problem. Another door solution for small spaces is now pocket doors, but they slide into the wall instead of the top of the wall. So they are more expensive because you need a contractor to open and install the walls I wanted to use the hardware I used for the studio door, but I also needed the actual door to hang the hardware on (huh!) . The simple ones I like were around $400 So much so that I hired Josh to make a door that I designed with vertical and horizontal lines, and of course he nailed and built it for very little! Tell us the secret to our door, Josh!

Bathroom Door Ideas Guide

First we developed a plan, which is a good place to start. Laura’s door was very narrow, so the door was only 29 inches wide and 93 inches tall. The door was wide enough to cover both sides of the closed molding (by design). Don’t forget you can adjust them to fit your opening and space!

Once we had the plan done, it was time to cut some wood (or make some wood, as I call it old fashioned carpentry). We cut the plywood to the size we needed (29″ x 93″).  To get the amount of boards we needed, I had to make them 1/4″ wide. Once everything was ripped, I cut them lengthwise and then sanded them

After cutting everything and sanding the edges, I placed all the boards on top of the plywood to make sure all the boards fit together properly. Then it was just a matter of gluing and nailing it all in I started with the horizontal board Next go vertical making sure the pieces are firmly pushed together  I used 18 gauge 1.25 inch galvanized nails

After gluing and nailing everything, I filled the nail holes and any other imperfections in the wood. After the putty dried I sanded everything down with 120 grit sandpaper and then went to 220. Since I was painting the door I wanted the finish to be as free as possible…almost not knowing . of wood
