Best Paint Color For Small Bathroom With No Windows

Almost every room in my house has at least one source of natural light. But two rooms — two small, windowless bathrooms — proved difficult to redesign. The guest bathroom, for example, is fully functional. But because it is closed, I don’t like living there. If I have guests again, they won’t. I thought it might be part of handling the quarantine, but I’m tired and want to solve this problem once and for all.

A Quick Refresh For The Guest Bath! • Ugly Duckling House

It took some trial and error, but thanks to some inspiration from the Clarke + Kensington 2020 Color Trends palette, I think I got it! If you encounter the same problem (maybe it’s a jack-of-all-trades or a basement bathroom), try this method to solve the problem of unnatural lighting and also a shortcut to clean and professional paint. A more detailed post is below, but you can see the changes in the video:

One of the first things you will notice from the “before” photo is how yellow the bathroom looks. Soft white bulbs are common, of course, but if the house doesn’t have windows, you’ll have to rely on throwaway colors. In this room, soft white just does not work and leaves a yellow mark on it

. Every time I take something up (like the vanity that I’m patiently waiting to install), I hate that the light gets in the way.

Why don’t you change the bulb to cloudy or bright white? I can – except for the equally unfortunate choice of choosing a light structure that does not use standard bulbs. They were so hard to find and I decided enough was enough! Not only do I need new paint, but I won’t spend another penny on custom bulbs. I like to recycle new equipment, so this hand twist is reliable.

A few years ago, I also installed a Bluetooth bathroom fan with LED lights. It has a blue color that I like – it’s not cloudy – but it’s a step in the right direction

Soft white light bulb mix. I chose paint using this lamp. Just see the difference in brightness changes? I like it better. 😊

The walls are now partially covered with purple-gray purple. It’s actually an amazing color… in the right room. But as time passed, I realized it was completely the wrong color for this bathroom. The lights, stairs and tiles just don’t play a good role and make everything look sick and ugly. It’s amazing how much more paint can affect your home. After adding this paint color, I stopped making any creative progress on the design!

I say “partially guaranteed” because I also couldn’t finish the first paint job. After removing all the wallpaper here and fixing the drywall, I have a few more patches to do next to the old light fixture. I’ve finished painting the houses and patches, but I’ve been procrastinating. Word to the wise: If you cover a compound like this, cover it with paper.

. A patched wall like this is more fragile than a finished or previously painted wall, so when the paint hits the wall, the paint can absorb and chip (one spot will look duller than the other, or just a patch). It can require more coats for the same coverage, so paper money is the best option for protection and cheaper than buying another coat of paint to do another coat!

Ace Hardware was sent to me earlier this year as an inspiration and filled with sustainable natural products (most of which I have never used before and was excited to try). They also posted paint samples and information on Clarke + Kensington 2020 color trends.

Given this natural-inspired color, I know it will be a good opportunity to revisit K’s “Inspirational Bath to Die For.” 😂

Tip: I ordered paint over the phone and received it the same day from Ace Hardware.

Let’s also mention paint, specifically: As a home improvement blogger, it’s no surprise that I paint the same walls.

I also experiment a bit with different brands and lines of paint (sometimes the same brand but different types of paint). Although many brands have paints

Today I can not find a coat that goes on without flaking or touching when matching a pair of sheets and when the color changes significantly (like this one from dark mauve to light creamy white). I wanted two coats and it really needed two. However, it doesn’t hurt to cover it once:

After the second coat dried, I took a step back and examined the ends closely. Answer: The main thing I noticed about this particular line: There is a noticeable difference

Clarke + Kensington is one of the other brands I have used in the bathroom in the past. I can’t explain the difference, but it’s… fat? Velvet?

In general, it is recommended to use satin or high gloss in the bathroom. But since I worked so hard to renovate the old dryer, I don’t want to have a gloss so that I can see every defect on the wall (which will be very green). However, I went with the eggnog. It’s flatter than satin, but still washable enough for this room (if you want a little more info, I explain the trade-off between shine and other benefits in this post!). It’s the perfect balance. Hopefully, you can see the beautiful creations on the wall in the “after” picture in this post!

I started by painting the entire room opal white. I love this color! I bought a gallon with the Ace Hardware gift card they sent me, but I don’t have half enough to do two coats at home. So, I’m pretty sure I’m good enough to paint the master bathroom as well (I didn’t come back to finish the last paint job after reusing the bathroom there…guess procrastination pays off, eh!) . I compared the color in the guest bathroom (with no window) to the natural light (in the basement) and it looks great in that situation. Highly recommended, especially because it’s hard to find a good balance in the white wall color (I don’t like yellow too “warm” white, and it’s not pure white that looks pure and hospital). It’s a beautiful, simple white that can still play off the cool green on the accent wall, without taking in any blues, greens or purples in the process.

I used leftover natural wood paneling to create a small accent wall. Although I was worried that this room would be too small to work with such paint capacity, I’m glad I went with it anyway. Green, blue and gray in the color trend took me away, this is a soft, dark green that is only blue and most gray.

After the white opal paint dried, I attached the back wall section to the newly painted surface with duct tape. I don’t plan to keep the mirror (the little decorative part of the frame is all dirty and gloomy), but I don’t have an extra medicine cabinet, I’m still looking for a replacement. Since then I am

Keeping the vanity, I measured 4″ from the top to create the paint line. There is no particular logic. I thought it could go a long way.

Regular painter’s tape has the risk of peeling the new paint on the wall, especially in the first few days (treatment time approx.
