Bathroom Ideas With Freestanding Tub And Shower – Two weeks ago, I shared a bathroom in my mom’s apartment, and you loved it. I knew it would happen It’s a change from the black and green space (Or art? The debate continues.)
Today I’m focusing more on the bathroom – check out my mom’s master bathroom with her new tub! Two years ago, we renovated the space to take the main builder’s vanity and add a little femininity to it It was fine for a while, but my mom really wanted to update the whole room He doesn’t like the floor or the shower tile and it bothers him every day He finally realizes that he is living with something he hates and vows to change it as soon as possible

Before moving on to the next shot, let’s look at the before photos and the design plan of the space
Before & After: A Confined Bathroom Is Uplifted With Bountiful Space! — Designed
Here’s a look at “Back in the Day”. This is the field before updating using custom spaces My mom, a builder, didn’t like the basic vanity, she has a double sink when she doesn’t need it.
Here are some new decorations It was good, but the rest of the room was crying out for a change.
Isn’t that great? Hexagonal tile floors, pink tiles, and that private bathroom…holy smokes! When you walk into this place, it really feels like a hotel and my mom couldn’t be happier Let’s start with the details
Needless to say, I was jealous of her new private bathroom. I’m a big bathroom goer and if this was my house I would use it every night! There was an old jacuzzi tub and that’s when we found out that a freestanding tub would work in its place. My mom isn’t a big bather either, but she’s enjoying her new beautiful tub!
Primary Bathroom Ideas To Covet Right Now
We went with black wall mounted hardware and it really pops with the stone tile and white tub.
I love the shape of the tub because it’s so simple The vanity has so much detail that I don’t want this bathroom to compete with it. Instead, it’s nice, smooth and big!
I bought my mom a shower tray to use here for Mother’s Day and I think it’s great. Wood provides warmth and adds style to wood Plus, there’s room for a glass of wine!
We chose this beautiful brass chandelier over the tub and it adds so much to the space It brightens things up but also brings a bit of glam to the whole room

I love how these silver capiz shells tie in with the capiz mirror in her living room. It’s all about repeating elements throughout your home for a cohesive feel
A really smart addition is adding a car next to a freestanding tub Not only is it a great place to keep a glass of water or a bottle of shampoo, but it’s also a great place to have fun with art and accessories. We just had the contractor add wood trim to the baseboard and he painted it the same color as the walls (Benjamin Moore “Fog Mist”). We were originally going to do wood for the shelves, but the wood was a bit heavy on the left side of the room between the tub and vanity.
For art, we know we have to take big steps to fill a big place : Frame them I always say that every room needs a little art, so I’m glad we chose art for the frame
The candlestick plant is fake because it doesn’t have a window, and the other is the pothos plant that usually lives in my mom’s living room. I’ll try to find a good faux drapery plant to replace it with and let you know if it looks real!

Now in the room…shower! The layout of this space is similar to the previous photo
However, our contractor had to move the temperature control and on/off valve to the right side of the shower. That way mom can turn on the shower without getting wet! I highly recommend this if you are remodeling your shower
My mom also wants a chair in here (good for cutting legs) and we’re not sure we have enough space. Instead of building a high wall on the starboard side, we were told by the crew to build a small bench in the corner. Very nice!
The shower area is another must have for my mom and I love that they are long and wide She even bought beautiful toilet bottles for everything and made them look clean and simple

And what about the tiles? It’s pretty cool, isn’t it?! We originally planned to go with this clay tile, but it was backordered, which was in our guest bathroom, so we looked around and found this replacement. It’s called WOW in Fez and we use warm glow colors My mom ordered it from a local tile store, Tile Outlet, and it arrived quickly! Our original tile was a little gray and this one is a warm and blue
I am happy with the results I think the gray will be very cool here and so
For the glass, Mom chose a piece of black polished glass Here it looks nice and simple and he doesn’t have to worry about opening and closing the door It’s similar to the previous setup he chose, so we know it will work in the new location
I have always liked this universal humility, and now I like it even more We have a shower tile that works as a small backsplash throughout the room, including above the vanity. We don’t have tile behind the vanity because tile is expensive and wasteful, but you never know

When it comes to fancy dresses, I found one at MegMed in Chicago a couple of years ago I did it again and then I ordered stone top faucets and a sink from Lowe’s. We redid the entire closet to make this vanity and it’s beautiful You can read more about the process in this blog post
We keep most of the accessories and jewelry in that area because they reflect my mother’s style Now the rest of the room fits it perfectly!
When designing a bathroom, I like to use at least two metals It creates interest and keeps the room from feeling flat Here we chose black and copper The shower and tub have black hardware and a black shower door
Then we have brass chandeliers, lamps and faucets that bring out the warmth of gold/brass tones.

Oh, and we also chose a black handle for the toilet It’s all about the little details to bring the space together
The before and after photos prove that this place has come a long way in a short time!

Next week, Mom will take over the blog to share the lessons she’s learned on these two big projects This is his first time taking on a project of this magnitude and I know he has a lot of knowledge to share Oh, and it also blew the project timeline (I think they finished both bathrooms in three weeks!) and the total budget for both bathrooms. I know you always like to see numbers Watch out for this…
