Happy Friday! I hope you have a wonderful week! Favorite Friday is a little different this week because I’m participating in a front porch decorating blog with some other fun blogger friends! Spring is just around the corner and I can’t wait to spend my days outside. It’s great to get our front porch ready for the season so we can make the most of the space for spring and summer. Our front porch is very small and can be a challenge for style, but with some minor renovations, we were able to create a space that we love. After reading my previous porch decorating ideas, be sure to check out the authors’ other porches!

Even on a small front porch, you can add a small conversation area. It’s just a small chair or bench, but it’s a great place!

This year, we got a small front chair. Last year, we were able to put it in a rocking chair. You can see our porch from last summer here. Although I really enjoyed sitting in the rocking chair on the front porch, it was a little big for the small space. It was very decorative, but it just didn’t look right. We used the chair all the time, mostly me, but sometimes I caught the kids sitting there reading a book.

I was going to put the rocking chair back on the porch, but when I realized it needed to be repainted, I started reconsidering. Then my six year old and I went to Target in the outdoor patio section and found tons of outdoor seating options! I brought home this little old chair, and then I asked the kids what they liked.

The fabric of the chair is really nice! Can be wet and dry very well. A very comfortable chair – especially with the cushion!

When you’re working with a limited decorating budget, you really should look everywhere for home decor—including places you might not expect. That swivel chair I mentioned was definitely a garage sale! I have been known to grab small things from the side of the road. (I’m not ashamed to admit it!)

This year I found a wonderful spring porch article in an unexpected place. You won’t believe where I found the white side table!

Five down of all places! I was five down with the kids the other day and there were so many beautiful things for the home and garden! No need to spend a lot of money on something that will last more than a year! I find that outdoor furniture, no matter how much you spend, lasts as long as you don’t need it!

Create An Inviting Front Porch For Fall

I love adding pillows and blankets to our porch chair. However, a pillow or blanket may not work if you don’t have enough space. Even though our area is covered, the pillow still beats the elements, so I’m pretty sure I’ll choose an outdoor pillow.  If the weather is bad, I try to bring pillows and blankets.

The layered layer is still a wonderful shape. You can add some style and your own style with a fun rug. For a better look, add a layer to the door. Find a large patterned rug for the base layer, then add a smaller, fun rug for the top layer.

We’ve had this black and white rug for years and I still love it. A black and white carpet looks similar. Carpet remains well maintained even after many years and does not need to be replaced. However, door mats are not durable and usually need to be replaced every year – especially after a long winter!

I was so excited to bring in my new lemon rug that I’ve been talking about it since I bought it a few months ago! The doorpost was the inspiration for the rest of the porch when I added the little yellow coat! Once I get the rest of my summer flowers I’ll be sure to add more yellow ones.

If it’s in your budget, consider a new light fixture. Good lighting can give your small front porch an “acoustic feel.” You don’t have to spend a ton of money on porch lighting. Home Depot and Lowe’s have many options.

Whether it’s a new front door or an old door that has seen better days, a new crown can give it a new look! If you plan to use glass year-round, be sure to use neutral glass and plenty of herbs. If you choose one with lots of flowers, you’ll want to change it up every season.

If you’re on a tight budget to decorate your porch, one of the cheapest decorating ideas is to use flowers and plants to fill the space. Save a lot of money by buying flowers in flats (not pots) and then planting the flowers in smaller pots.

Plants and flowers add color and joy to the front porch. You can choose flowers that match the color scheme you have with your small front porch. In my case, I combined blue and white with my flowers.

Decide what you want from the site and focus on your priorities. Do you want to stay? Do you like lots of plants and flowers? Need a new crown or carpet?

In my case, our porch was finished after other decorative pieces. Blankets and pillows are things I already have.  I bought the yellow planter from Kirklands. Next, I added another plant, which cost $10 from Whole Foods! (You never know where you might find home decor!) Also bought the glass at Home Depot! (similar here).

Beautiful Porch Ideas To Welcome You Home In Style

The most important thing is to take your time to fill a space. I’ve been slowly putting things together for the past few months and it’s all coming together. Sometimes when you go to decorate a place in a short period of time, you end up buying things that you don’t really like. Focus on one main decorating element that you love and build the rest of the space around that element!

This Front Door Blog Hop was the inspiration I needed to decorate our front door for the season! Please check out these front porch ideas:
