Small Bathroom Images Pinterest – When you embark on a major renovation, it always takes longer than you think it should.  I’ve been planning on redoing these pictures of our master bathroom for a long time…but life happens.  So, despite the wires still hanging from the ceiling above the tub, I hope these pictures give you some fun ideas for renovating your master bathroom.  One day it will be 100% finished and even decorated.  And then I’ll have to share some more pictures.  Until then, enjoy this master bath before and after.  We have a long way to go, baby!

The master bathroom in Fixer Upper in 1987 was very cramped and dark.  You walked right into the sink area in the master bedroom.  You can see below, there were two sinks and a sink, separated by a door that led to an adjoining room with a bath, shower and toilet.  The master closet was out of the sink area, split into two closets with separate doors on the trailer…one blocked the other sink when the door came out, as you can also see in the picture.

The area was carpeted, very dark and there was only one small window in the whole back corner of the house, and it was very basic with low sinks, taps and quality lighting etc. When I walked through the house I knew there was plenty of space, just needed to be reconfigured and modernized.  Like the rest of the house, I wanted to open it up, make it brighter and brighter and easier to use.  The construction was a disaster!

Tips To Decorate A Small Bathroom

You could say we’ve changed things up a bit. 😉 This was the part of the construction where we could see the whole house.  From the basement to three floors through the floors, through every wall to the other side of the house…it was a mess!  But at the same time exciting.  I don’t recommend going through all of this.  We survived… barely. 😉

There was a weird, tiny, shallow closet at the top of the stairs that was taking up some of the space I wanted for the bathroom, so we removed it.

As you can see we added lots of windows and the light coming in is amazing!  We also made a separate sound system for the bathroom.

Remember the privacy wall I talked about in the master bedroom?  This allowed us to make the closet several feet larger.  We also opened up the walls to make one large closet instead of two smaller closets and removed one closet door.  Much better!!  I will share more about the wardrobe later. But here you can see the new wider single door, another framed door, and the new window I put in the closet to spice things up.

Then!  What a difference, right?  I went here with gray cabinets and the same Bella Statuario quartz countertops as in the kitchen.  I love them.  I wanted a large shower and this 4×4 foot shower is perfect.  The gray cabinets were painted by Sherwin Williams in Repose Gray, and the floors are the same wood we used on the main floor and master bedroom.  It is made of hardwood and is perfectly fine for use in the bathroom.  We also have it in the bathrooms in our Orange County home and love it.  It’s hard to tell in these pictures, but the tile is not a straight meter.  It has a little texture to it, which helps it reflect light in interesting ways and makes it look a little more rustic.  At the bottom of the post I will list and link everything that was used in this master bathroom makeover.

The chandelier above the bathtub has arrived…it’s just a matter of mounting it!  Give us a few months. 😉

This master bathroom remodel made all the difference!  I can’t even believe that there is as much space.  Adding windows and opening it all made a big difference.  I love soothing colors and rustic elements like a pebble shower and wooden floors.  We are very pleased with how everything turned out.
