Small Half Bathroom Decor Ideas

Small Half Bathroom Decor Ideas – I can’t believe I finally finished this DIY bathroom makeover! And you guys, my husband doesn’t even argue with me about this! 🤣 I think he finally believed in my renovation and said, “Okay, when should I remove the floors?” What a man. Let me tell you, we have come a long way. Laugh out loud. Check it out in this video first!

This whole project comes from some stoves that I bought for our stove and don’t use. After buying a few more things, I had enough to clean the bathroom floor and thought it was the best and most fun place for them! And when I do the floor, why not do it again, right? The pedestal sink is crooked and I feel uncomfortable whenever I sit down to urinate. Laugh out loud. He has to go. So after a lot of thinking and thinking about the design, this is what I did in Canva.

These are the beauties that I have and think will have a lot of fun in a half bath. I’ve seen them in brown and black and white, but when I was in TX I saw them at Floor & Decor in their sage/seafoam color! (They have gone up a dollar a tile since I bought them, yes!). The thing about encaustic tiles is that you have to seal them before you grout them. So an extra step, but worth it because they are nicer and more modern than our old .50 cent tiles.

To install them, we removed the sink and toilet and destroyed the old tile. I mixed this mortar, placed the cement board, screwed and let it dry. Then I use this pre-mixed product and place the tiles with 1/8″ grout spacers I use in the kitchen. Follow up with a good cleaning and two protective coats before grouting. I use the This stone is white because the tiles are white.

I used PVC board and lath because this bathroom gets a lot of use and our area gets wet in the summer. When wet, MDV will be permanently deformed. I originally planned to paint it the same color I used on the DIY linen closet. When I painted the swatch on the wall, it looked like blood! So I reluctantly started mixing different colors that I have (I hate spending money on color samples) and finally came up with this color!

I love how it has our Sherwin Williams white on top and how the house is painted. There are 8,000,000 boards and batten tutorials out there so I’ll leave it to you. However, if you want to keep the existing concrete floor, I recommend that you don’t go with 1″ wood like everyone else. It will sag and look terrible and the “hacks” for it with angled cuts or adding a bit of hem are no bueno. Please only buy separately. If you need a thicker plate and rail, change the base plate. These are the ones I bought from HomeDepot. I ordered online and they shipped it to me for free.

Since the boat sink we will be wall mounted, I installed it first. This I know that the sink is not on the shelf that I want to build. Unfortunately the measurements for the sink were wrong online so it was just over 20″ and I had to stay under that. At the time there was a small gap in the back that I had to take care when putting the board in, which is finally fixed. I closed it with a piece of scrap wood and caulk. I used this cheap faucet from Amazon, which is like a child’s version of our kitchen sink. Then these matching towels and toilet paper save us from the “who doesn’t change toilet paper” argument. I can’t explain much how much more “complete” they are than the class creations we had before.

Bathroom Ideas To Inspire A Refresh

Enjoy this DIY bathroom makeover. I want a new bathroom, but we have a very limited space, so I know it will be small or custom. This bathroom really needs storage, so I decided to try to create another one in that space. After putting all our new kitchens together, I have a better understanding of how to design appliances and think I can do it. I didn’t write these steps very well because I think it’s unlikely that anyone visiting this blog will have a bathroom like this. Plus, I’ve been thinking about it.

I started making the “shelf top” with 1″ lumber folded to the correct depth, then cut to fit my weird shape. With an extra “U” cutout to work around the plumbing. Tom then i started to build the shelf by pulling the wood from the bottom of the wall to hold my shelf. i cut a piece for the front of the shelf like i did in my tutorial floating so that it looks like a rough piece of wood.

I really started working from the ground up with the revival table. I broke down some old 2×8 I had and made a sturdy base that screwed into the studs on the back wall. I then cut out the bottom of the shelf and attached the side/front support with Kregs. Then all that is left is to make the door. As I saw in my first plan, I needed the straps for this, but then I decided that it would be better to use all the rest of the project / my garage, so I broke the table saw again and cut the wood to 25 ” in the middle. And thickness 0.5 “. Then I started playing Tetris with my saw and a 45 degree angle.

Therefore, we came up with a plan to save our bathroom. I added some extension flanges to the toilet flange to adjust the height difference between the new tile and the old tile and we were able to put the old bathroom back in place. A few days later I noticed a leak from one of the toilet screws. I know that you have to slowly tighten all the screws so that they are all level. Well I obviously Hulked it because one turn is too far and it snaps. The porcelain was broken.

Needless to say, I had to disassemble and remove the toilet, which was an inconvenience especially since I left town for a business trip. I decided to buy a vanity from HomeDepot and then somehow get a big heavy box out of the car and install it. When I went to connect the toilet, I saw a broken hairline in one of the screw holes. Don’t worry because I already have the base set. I bought some epoxy, filled the hole, let it cure for a day, then installed the tank and no problems so far.

I used prints from my own digital printer, printed at Nations Photo Lab and put them in a 16.5×20″ IKEA Hovsta frame! BTW IKEA delivers for $5.99 which is cheaper than driving an hour and a half drive to Philly.I also ordered a small frame and picked up Emme’s (almost three year old) stuff for my floating shelf!

The floating cabinet was built using the same method I did for my kitchen. I also found a metal basket and used a candle and a fake plant that I had for it. The mirror was found at HomeGoods, but is similar to this tablet mirror found at Target. The light is an Amazon credit that I found for about $50 (link link). I was so excited to find a toilet to match the new bathroom! Add a Dollar Spot candle, pour-pourri, fake plants, and a box of feminine accessories and voila! The bathroom is like a house without a lot of people!

I hope this inspires you to do your own DIY bathroom makeover or answers any questions you may have! Be sure to check out other DIY posts and pin them for later!
